SIL

There seems to be a lack of affection towards the YaYa's Sil. I have to happily say that I'm not in that group. My sil is great. She has been watching Logan all week for me, no complaints, as she put it "I'd be happy to watch him". She hosts a monthly scapbook get together basically a kick in the butt for all of us to work on our books. When ever you try to buy supplies from her she fights you on actually paying (I always do but it a battle). I guess in general she’s just a good person. We did have our issues in the beginning back when she thought I was the golden child that had everything handed to me by my parents. A bit of disinformation from my brother fed that. But she watched me deal with some major things in my young life and realized I'm not handed everything. When my nephew was born 17 years ago tomorrow, I made him a blanket and said how its the Aunt's job to make a blanket. Well she remembered that and made one for Logan, it was very touching. I guess the point is I'm lucky my brother chose a good woman.

Portch project, from planning to action

Mom come over this Sunday to help me get started on the portch. We got so much done. The big things I needed help with, we layed the subfloor down over the old nasty red and black checkered vinyl floor, we put up all new wainscott on the walls to cover the old stuff that was there. And we put up a huge peice of wainscott over the one wall where the old storage thing was thereby evening out the wall. The difference is amazing, even though its far from done I'm so happy already. I'm going to place an order at work for all the moulding I need. I decided to just run window sill around the top of the knee wall to cap off the wainscott. I know it sounds wierd but it will work well with the way the wall is. Tonight I'm going to try and finish the prep work on the floor so that will be ready for the tile. Then I'll prime the walls and ceiling. I made a list of everything that needs to be done its pretty long but I'm thinking if I stager them out I might actually get the room done in a week.

On to sader news. My sitters Mother died suddenly this weekend. I feel so bad for her. She and her mother didn't have a good realtionship but still to lose you Mom at 27. The fureral is this Thursday. Obviously Logan didn't go to the sitter this week, shes got enough to deal with. I realize now that I need to find some additional backup sitters. My sil is always happy to take Logan, but getting a hold of her is sometimes a challange and she lives on the other side of town. It's not much farther just on the side fo town where traffic is ALWAYS a nightmare. So it will most likey take me an extra hour to get home tonight.

And thats the babble for today.

Bubbles, Easter egg hunt take 2, and memorial garden

Right after breakfast we headed out to the yard to try out my Birthday present. A bubble machine, yes really my parents bought me a bubble machine. One thing to know about me is I love bubbles. Always have always will, they are cheap fun and therapy. I keep bubbles everywhere, in my kitchen, in the basket at the front door, several bottles in my car, in the diaper bag, in the stroller, at my desk at work(yes I blow bubbles at my desk it relieves stress), in the garage, on the back porch. I literally have gallons of bubble solution. I am know as the bubble queen among my family. I set up the machine wow it was awesome, blew bubbles within bubbles. Something that’s not easy to do as a person but easy as a machine. And they were HUGE, 12 inches across. Logan had a ball chasing them, popping them, jumping on them. A big hit of a gift we will defiantly deplete my solution supply this year.

We held the rescheduled Easter egg hunt today. Sadly only one Mom and her son showed up. 5 other people said they maybe would stop by, oh well their loss. I actually had a really nice time. Brooke the mom who came only lives 2 miles from me, she’s about my age, is a grown up and has no desire to revisit all the stupid activities of a 20ish year old. Seems like lots of the other women in the group are still really interested in bar hopping, strip dance lessons, etc. Seems Brooke and I are the only ones past all that, then again we are the only ones not in our 20's. Anyway we had a good time talking and just hanging out. Her son is 15 months so she had lots of questions about when Logan did this or that. We have exchanged phone numbers and talked about just doing our own thing more then hanging with the wild girls.

Here's the boys playing

Later my friend Sarah stopped by with her son. She's the one that I was prego with, her son was born 3 days before I was due to have Gabriel. I was OK, I even held him for a long while. Inside I was thinking this should be my baby I'm holding, which made me a little sad but I didn't feel that crushing sadness. Maybe I'm healing; maybe I'm just having a good day. I just don't know. Yesterday when I was doing all the yard work I got the spot I'm making into Gabriel’s memorial garden ready. Cleaned out the weeds, pruned back the tree and lilacs and mulched it. There are already a bunch of daffodils planted there, I'm going to get some Dicentra also know as Bleeding hearts to plant in the bed and put out the stone I made. I'm planning on actually placing the stone next Friday that will be his first Angel day.

What a glorious day.

The Spring I have been longing for arrived today in full force. It was beautiful today, the sun was out it was in the 70's this afternoon. Logan and I went to the zoo this morning. I asked him 5 times on the way there if he wanted to walk or ride in the stroller. I know riding realy means jumping in and out of the stroller. Anyway he said he wanted to walk. About half way threw he started asking me to carry him, I refused he just weighs to much to carry for that long. I did finally give in right as we were leaving. He was so tired, which secretly was my intent, I got a 3.5 hour nap out of him.

Once little man was napping I headed out to the yard. I got so much done, of course my back hates me right now. Then Logan and I played outside till dinner. All in all it was a fun day. Woo Hoo for Spring.

Bla....

I feel Bla today. I'm at work doing a bunch of mindless stuff, putting off those tasks which I'll need to think for. My hearts just not in it anymore.

My birthday was Ok nothing to exciting. Logan and I played till anti-nap time. I made him stay in his room for an hour then just gave up. We headed over to the mall, got his haircut which he desperately needed. Stopped at Body shop and picked up some orange body wash, I love that stuff, it was my Birthday treat to myself. Logan asked to go in the toy store, I told him we are only looking and to not ask to have things. I was so surprised he did really well, he wanted to look at and play with some specific items but only asked to take home one thing. As we were leaving I saw the big Cars the movie display, we have almost every one of the characters from a happy meal but not Sally or Doc. I wanted to see if they had them, but nope. They did however have the Woody and Buzz light year cars from the credits at the end of the movie. And since Buzz is Logan’s Favorite I had to get them for him. He was so excited. Next we headed over to the pet store, and here’s the Super proud Mommy moment. I push the stroller up so he can see all the puppies, and these 2 20ish women are there looking at the puppies. Well they turn around and start ogling (sp?) over Logan. "He's so cute, god he's just so cute." They kept at it for a while. They chose to look at my son over puppies!!! One of them even said just that, He's cuter than puppies. Yeap it’s official I'm super proud Mommy, with super cute Little man. His new super power, Cuter then puppies.

So much for the Easter egg hunt. :(

We were supposed to host an Easter egg hunt this morning. But alas the stomach virus just wont leave my little man alone. I'm frustrated with this. He seemed to have been totally over the bug and now its back. I can't give him any dairy, the results are not pleasant. Of course all he wants right now is milk, yogurt and cheese. Poor little guy woke me up this morning at 6 am telling me he's hungry. He's not drinking enough for my comfort either. I just want him to be better!

Clean clean clean.

First looks like Logan is not getting sick again. The Monday night incident was it. We have had not issues since then, thankfully. Yesterday was a good day. Since I'm having people over Friday I decided to make good use of the day home. It started out simple, scrub the kitchen floor. While I'm down on the floor I notice some of the cabinets are in need of some spot cleaning, oh and the baseboard to, oh and the bottom of the fridge...etc. My kitchen is sparkling now! Then I vacuumed the entire first floor put all Logan's toys on the shelves where they belong, did a few loads of laundry, reinstalled the somewhat still stinky car seat. Ordered a new car seat since he’s almost too heavy for the triumph. After nap we went to target and returned some things, picked up a bunch of stuff emergency small pack of wipes for Daddy's car, tissues, first aid kit. Some other things for the at home first aid kit. All in all I left out of target with a big bag of stuff and only spent $12. Stopped at the party store to look for Easter stuff found nothing. Went to Lowes retuned a ton of stuff, and picked up some flowers.
I need spring so badly. Every winter I fight the blues and by the end of Feb I'm usually teetering on depression. All I ever need to get me straight again is spring, sunlight, warm days and most importantly GREEN. I know it sounds weird but it's what works for me. I've got some crocus coming up in the yard with is wonderful I just want to see some leaves on the trees. I know it’s just around the corner but I want it now.

Back to the first aid kit. Do you all have a well stocked first aid kit? Do you know the number to poison control 1-800-222-1222? Do you have Mr’ yuck stickers on bad things? Do you have critical information on a label on your car seat, i.e. name contact info weight b-day? Did you change your smoke detector batteries? Do you have a Carbon monoxide detector? Just food for thought.

Bite me!

The title says it all.

Dh can bite me for leaving the basement totally trashed as he heads out for a 4 day buisness trip.
The Stomach bug that has decided to visit our house 2 twice this month can bite me.
The Idiot who designed the evenflow triphump can bite me for many reasons,

  1. You have to unscrew 4 srews to get the seat cover off.
  2. You can't remove the straps, to clean them.
  3. You can't get the buckel off to clean it out, currently its filled with what ever barf I couldn't get out.

And to top it all off I either turned off my alarm and have no memory of it or it didn't go off. Good thing I called out of work at 4 am.

Ok thats all for now, I'm just frustrated that Logan is sick again.

Potty update.

I have finally found the method that works for Logan. If I let him run around naked he uses the potty no issues. He pees he poops!! But as soon as I put under ware on he wets them. It's not at all convenient since we can't leave the house but hey it's one hurtle.

Monday...

Ho Humm the last day of my 6 day weekend. It's been a good weekend. I just don’t want it to end. Mitch is flying to Texas this afternoon and wont be back till Thursday. I just wish it was only a 2 day work week. My days are going to be longer than usual since I'll need to drop Logan off. At least I can get the house clean and it will stay that way for more than 10 mins. Which is a good thing since I'm hosting an Easter egg hunt on Friday.

Saturday I met up with some women from the regional board. We hooked up at the mall to walk. After what didn't seem that long we realized we had walked over 3 miles. We had a nice time and are planning on meeting up again next time for a Mom's dinner. Appreantly my shoes and or socks are not the best to walk in I have a huge blister on the bottom of my foot. I haven't had a blister in years I forgot how much they can hurt. But it was worth it, I'm so gald we walked I felt so good afterward. Once my blister heals up a bit I'll head back out for some more. Oh and one of the women told me about a great private school right around to corner from me that I didn't know about. They have a 3 year old program, it really sounds nice, and while we were walking around we ran into the teacher for the 3 year olds! It was a sign.

The weather was so nice yesterday I spent a few hours out in the yard trying to pull out some of the honeysuckle jungle encroaching from the neighbor’s yard. There is just so much over there; I literally cut one vine that was 3 inches thick! My neighbor is an elderly woman who we all help to care for; she spends most of her time at her daughter’s house and only comes to stay for short visits. She's just not ready to give up her house. A few years ago her daughter gave me permission to pretty much do anything in her yard, take plants trim things back. I want to talk with her again just to verify that is still stands and then go take out the honeysuckle. It's going to be a major job but I'd rather pull it all out then to try and keep it trimmed back. There are some other very invasive vines I need to take out too. Her yard was once just spectacular but as she’s aged it’s been left to do its own thing. In a few weeks when all the bulbs bloom it will be at its peak, which is just wonderful hundreds of flowers it looks like the yard was carpeted with flowers. I'll try to snap a photo. Little man is getting a cold, oh joy. Saturday night he kept waking up crying, very unlike him. The first time he babbled something about his eye but then fell back to sleep, next time dh went to get him and mentioned that he again said something was in he eye but again fell asleep. The 3rd time we decided that we needed to have a good look, let me tell you that was no fun. First he was asleep in a dark room so we had to get his eyes to adjust to the light, then we had to get him just let us look. Mitch said he thought he saw an eyelash in there, well he was rubbing and crying and screaming "There’s something in my eye" so we busted out the saline. How many adults does it take to flush out a toddler’s eye? Well more than 2 I'd say... after a bit of a battle we managed to get enough saline on/in his eye we got what ever out. Thankfully he slept threw the rest of the night until 8:30 the next morning. And I made Mitch get up with him. I was a total slug and stayed in bed till 11 am, hehe. I was awake but once I go downstairs Mitch has a habit of disappearing. And since Mitch was gone all day on Sat and is going to be gone most of next week I decided this was my only chance for some me time.
Well since I've written a book and the day is beautiful I'm going to get off my butt and go out

Trains planes and automobiles (i.e. Trucks)

I swear I think we have every truck toy that was ever made. OK maybe that's an exageration but there are many in my house. Logan being a typical boy loves his trucks, currently he's driving them across the living room lining them up on the steps. He can sit for hours playing with his trucks at least until he drives one into something else that steals his attention away. And a balloon has distracted him from his trucks, and now juice... ahh the joys of the 2 second attention span of a toddler.

Well I'm sitting here waiting on Logan to finally decide that the potty is not evil and take his morning poop. Every day this week within about 30 mins of getting up he's pooped. Seems as soon as I diaper him he poops so he's running around bare bottom. I'm really tired of shelling out a ton of money for diapers because he's being lazy. I know he could be trained by now if he wanted he just won't be bothered with stopping what he's doing. Seems we have tried almost every proven method out there, except the run around naked method. So wish me luck, or at least only small messes to clean up.

Once little man has had his morning poop we're going out. I NEED to go for a walk. I've got this kick ass stroller that we both love it's time to start making use of it. Now that the weather isn't hurtfully cold I'm demanding of myself that I take a long walk every day. Today we'll stroll around the neighborhood, maybe head over to the grocery for a few things. Tomorrow I'm meeting some Mom's from the Md BBC board for Mall walking. They all have young babies so they don't want to brave the cooler air. But that's OK someone to walk and talk with is good for me.

At some point today I want to hit the craft store. I'm hosting an Easter egg hunt next week for my other Mom's group. I need to find things besides candy to put in the eggs. I'm thinking stickers are going to be the winner, hopefully I can also find some egg shaped sidewalk chalk. If I can't find anything good I'll just hit up the moms that are coming to bring some pre filled eggs to hide. Hopefully the hust will be fun.

Huston we have lift off!!!! Several trips to the potty all by him self to pee and we just got poopie!!

The Usual

First a thanks to Terri for recommending the Elmo vSmile game. Logan is having a ball right this minute playing. Not a lot to report today. We hung out and played this morning, had lunch and then fought a nap for way to long. This is happening more and more. But he's usually fine for the rest of the day so maybe he doesn't need them as much, but I still do! We ran to target this afternoon when my cabin fever was getting bad. Picked up the new game, some cleaning stuff, and bunch of Easter stuff. I think I'm going to offer to have an Easter party/egg hunt at my house for the Mom's group.
We have a playgroup tomorrow, last count I think there will be about 5 of us. It's on the other side of town which kind of stinks but not any farther then I drive to work so I'll live. It's at 10 so I'm sure little man will miss his nap again tomorrow.
The dryer just beeped, load number 5 is done. How is it I have so much laundry? It's just mine and Logan's! I haven't gotten to the towels and sheets yet. Maybe not doing laundry all last week wasn't a good plan live and learn.

LMAO Logan is telling Elmo on the TV "No Elmo" as Elmo is instructing him to press the button. I'm off to play with little man.

Tuesday but its my Friday

After today I have 6 glorious days off. Woo hoo. Got to love part time work.

Little man was up before me today, which is odd usually on days I work Mitch has to drag him from bed. But not today, he woke up a few mins before my alarm went off. he was crying which is really odd, he hardly ever cries in the mornings. As soon as I opened his door he was asking to go downstairs, and take my animals. His lamby and little stuffed Beagle puppy that he stole from me, Mitch got it for me to take to the hospital when I had Logan. I kept joking with him that I wanted to take the dog as my focal object, so he got me baby Amanita. I finally got Logan calmed down a bit and took him into the bathroom with me I had to shower and dress for work. He was unhappy with my, "I don’t want a bath!" Didn’t seem to get the fact that I was in the shower and he was not. Who knows how their little minds work. We dressed and finally went down stairs when he announced I'm hungry. Made him a quick breakfast, and headed out the door. I hate to leave him but it was nice to at least see him in the morning.

I've got serious cabin fever, even thought I'm at work. I can’t stand the idea of sitting home tomorrow. I'm going to see if I can meet up with some of the other Mom and go to the mall or something. I just need to get out! If all else fails I'll just go walk the mall. Oh and the weather is supposed to be cold and snow tomorrow. When the heck is Spring? I was going to work on the porch this week but if it's going to be cold and overcast there’s no way. Which sucks cause I want the porch done like yesterday. I still need to get the materials; I just don’t have room in my Van, a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Bead board or drywall just won't fit. I just might break down take some good measurements and have the things cut to the sizes I need at Home depot. It would fit then. Ok enough of my babble back to work.

Maybe now he'll understand....

Mitch has finally got the bug. He announced to me this morning as I was ready to walk out the door "I'm not going to work today" I'm like OK are you going to take Logan? He said that yes he was going to take Logan to the sitter; I suggested that he at least let Logan sleep in till he wakes on his own. Since On work days we get little man up an hour before his normal wake time. Well at 11:30 Mitch calls me at work to say that he didn’t take him to the sitters. Again I'm like ok (inside I'm laughing) why? Then he goes in to this long story about letting him sleep in and the sitter said she’s going to the Dr at 9, and she didn’t get home till after 11...bla bla bla. All I'm thinking is well now you have a clue how I feel EVERYTIME I get sick. It's hard and not fun to care for a toddler when you’re sick, especially when they are sick too. SO maybe just maybe, not holding my breath, the next time I'm sick Mitch will step up and help out.

Now in reality I know there is a snowballs chance in Hell that Mitch will learn a darn thing from today. And the house will be totally trashed, and he'll be a huge baby when I get home and tell me at least 20 times "I'm way sicker then you were last week" But for the moment I can revel in the fact that he got a taste of it.

Getting Better..

Looks like Logan and I are on the Mend. I was only sick for a day, thank goodness for Amodium. Logan is finally eating lots and keeping it in.

We were supposed to go to a playdate lunch on Sat but with us being sick we had to cancel. Many other people also cancelled funny thing is we hadn't met any of them yet. Still don't really know where we picked up the bug.

Logan and I spent about 2 hours in the yard yesterday, he had so much energy and was begging to go out, he ran and ran and dug. Moved about 10 lbs of sand from his sandbox to the lid. I took pics of the yard and measurements. My back yard needs a lot of help, I'm going to apply to one of those landscaping shows. I've come to realize that though I have the knowledge I just don't have the time, money, or more importantly the physical strenght to rescue the yard. So wish me luck on that.

Logan shares, gee thanks.

Logan was nice enougth to share his wonderful illness with me. I feel terrible, Logan seems to be on the mend. He woke up last night at 5 am, asking to go pee pee (woo hoo) and then begged for a snack. He seems in really good sprits this morning but is still having nasty diapers.

I really want some ginger ale and some other meds but I can't bring myself to go out. I checked out some of the grocery delivery services but none of them deliver them today. So I guess I'll have to do without till Mitch gets home.

Still sick, uggh

Poor little man is still sick. I'm keeping him on a clear liquid and BRAT diet which he is objecting too. He was begging for a yogurt this morning but I just know its a bad idea so I ended up bribing him with a Popsicle. So far he's been able to keep that down. I stayed home again today Little man just wants his Mommy when sick, and I'm happy to be there for him.

Portch update. Last weekend I got all the demo I wanted done complete. The shelving unit was torn out and all the moulding down. I still need to get the table and couch out of there. I might tackle that today durning nap time. The next big thing is to get the materials. I'm so ready to work on the place but can't till I get all the stuff here.
